Family Life Curriculum

In February, WCS staff will deliver the required Family Life Curriculum lessons, which align with state standards for grades 6–8. These lessons, developed by the WCS Teaching, Learning, and Assessment Department, address the following topics: 

Human development: relationships (family and friends) and setting boundaries 

• Reproductive system: anatomy 

• Maintaining reproductive health: risks of sexual activity, taught from an abstinence perspective 

• Awareness and prevention of human trafficking 

We plan to teach these lessons on February 5 and 6. Students will be separated by gender during the presentations: 

• February 5 (female students): 
• 8th grade – 2nd period 
• 7th grade – 3rd period 
• 6th grade – 5th period 

• February 6 (male students): 
• 8th grade – 2nd period 
• 7th grade – 3rd period 
• 6th grade – 5th period
